Recumbent Exercise Bikes Will Offer A Variety Of Options
Recumbent exercise bikes are much more comfortable than upright ones. The seat would be more or less level with the pedal crank and therefore does not have to go between your legs. Being able to sit in the upright position is also less strain on your back and the backrest offers even more support.
The bent over position of a normal stationary bicycle puts a lot of strain on your back, whether you have a back problem or not. It is also less strain on your arms and shoulders. If you are quite overweight it can be a much easier position to start exercising from and you would probably be able to keep it up for longer in the beginning.
Just because recumbent exercise bikes can be better for people who are infirm or less fit does not mean that they can't provide a high intensity workout. The backrest allows you to exert more pressure than you could with just your body weight. It is also easier to put weight on both the outward and inward movements when using straps on the pedals.
The prices vary as much as the features do and they can cost anything from a few hundred dollars to well over a thousand. The most basic designs are light weight and easy to move around. As they get more expensive the build tends to become more solid. Apart from having more sturdy moving parts there are also more features on the more expensive bikes.
At the lower end of the scale you don't get a high level of seat adjustment. There might also be less fine adjustment of the flywheel tension. For commercial use you would also want more durable moving parts and smooth, easy adjustment.
The highest quality breaking is magnetic resistance because it is quiet. The riding position can vary from being level to having the pedals slightly below the seat position. Whatever the case may be the direction of adjustment should be in the direction of the crank so that the riding position does not change when you move the seat back or forward.
There are many luxury features on the more expensive recumbent exercise bikes. They might have a jack for your phone or CD player that plays through built in speakers. They could even have a full color TV screen.
